The Public Works Department was created in 2005 as an initiative under Mayor Ed Hagnauer. This department combined the pre-existing departments of Animal Control, Building & Zoning and Streets & Sanitation under one director.
This combination was done to make city operations more efficient by creating a “one-stop shop” for residents, making access, inquiries and requests for services more customer-friendly and citizen-oriented.
