Emergency Medical Services

Since 1896, the Granite City Fire Department has provided high quality fire service to its citizens. In 1977 the Granite City Fire Department began providing the citizens of Granite City and anyone in Granite City that requests an ambulance with quality emergency medical care. If you need an ambulance, simply dial 9-1-1 for assistance. The Fire Department has 4 ambulances that provide state of the art pre-hospital advanced care for anyone suffering from illness or injury. Equipment on the ambulances includes cardiac monitors/defibrillators, advanced airway equipment, numerous types of medications, and IV fluids as well as many other types of basic and advanced life support equipment. In June of 2006 hand written reports were replaced by lap top computers. This advance will help our EMS personnel to better manage the privacy of medical records, help in billing purposes and streamline the amount of time with cumbersome paperwork.
