Paul Jackstadt
Ward 6 Council Member
Councilman Paul Jackstadt, age 61, is a graduate of Collinsville High School, He also is a graduate of Quincy University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He was appointed to the City Council in August of 2009.
After graduating from college, he served as a bailiff in the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court of Madison County and later took a job with Nordmann Printing Company of St. Louis, where he worked as a pressman and was a member of the International Printing Pressmen and Assistants' Union.
In 1974, he married the former Jane Kerch, a lifelong resident of Granite City. They have made Granite City their home, over the last 36 years. They have three children, Aaron, Tim, and Sarah and three grandchildren. Jane is a retired elementary teacher from the Granite City School District where she taught for thirty-three years. They are members of St. Elizabeth parish where Paul has served on the Parish Council and Jane is a member of the choir.
Paul retired in 2008 after thirty-five years as an educator. He taught two years in the Collinsville school district and thirty-three years at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis. During his tenure at CBC, he served as the school’s Dean of Students, as History Department Chairman, and was a member of the Academic Council.
Presently, Paul serves on the Public Works, Fire, and Industrial Search and Negotiations Committees.
Councilman Jackstadt will work with the Council and Mayor to:
1. Continue to work for improvements to the city’s infrastructure i.e. roads, sewers.
2. Help maintain the best equipped and best trained fire and police departments as possible.
3. Continue seeking more commercial and economic development.
